DEPARTMENT OF ACCELERATOR SCIENCE
High energy particle accelerators have played an essential role in the progress of nuclear and particle physics. High Energy, high quality beam probes provided by them are also an indispensable tool for the rushing development in recent years of material, life, and medial sciences. This department aims at research of new acceleration physics, frontier accelerator technologies, and such closely related fields as radiation science, computational science, and superconducting technologies. Both theoretical and experimental study programs, as well as synthesized educational programs, are provided for the above research areas.
DEPARTMENT OF MATERIALS STRUCTURE SCIENCE
At Institute of Materials Structure Science, we pursue leading edge researches, not only in physics but also in chemistry, biology, engineering, agriculture and medical science by use of advanced beams, such as synchrotron light, neutron and muon, which are provided by the state-of-the-art particle accelerators. We are also developing novel technologies for beam production and its utilization to make major contributions to materials science.
DEPARTMENT OF PARTICLE AND NUCLEAR PHYSICS
We conduct research of particle physics and nuclear physics both from the experimental and theoretical sides. Experimental physics by means of colliding beam accelerators and various beams from high intensity proton accelerators, theoretical investigtaions as well as related physics research including R&D of new devices, methods and application are pursued in a versatile way.
